About Marissa Greenberg, LMFT

I’m Marissa (she/her), a California Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist dedicated to helping individuals and couples find healing, understanding, and connection. My path into therapy was guided by a deep belief in people’s capacity to grow, even in the face of painful experiences. Today, I am honored to support my clients as they navigate life transitions, relationship struggles, and healing from trauma.

My Education and Training

I bring both academic knowledge and hands-on clinical experience to my work as a therapist:

Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology

Advanced Training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing):

The pregnancy and postpartum periods are phases of profound changes and challenges. I have specialized training in identifying and addressing the distinctive mental health, identity, and relationship challenges that individuals experience as they become the parents that they aspire to be for their children.

Professional Experience

My career has included work in both community mental health and private practice settings, where I’ve supported a wide range of clients with diverse needs. I’ve had the privilege of working with:

  • Adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, physical abuse, and sexual assault
  • Individuals navigating gender exploration and transition
  • People struggling with self-harm and body focused repetitive behaviors
  • Couples healing from domestic violence and other major life stressors
  • Parents managing the challenges that come with pregnancy, parenting, adoption, and postpartum

These experiences have shaped my ability to provide compassionate care for clients who are facing complex and sensitive issues.

Areas Of Focus

I specialize in supporting:

Trauma recovery

Helping survivors of abuse, assault, and other traumatic events find safety and healing

Perinatal and postpartum care

Supporting individuals and couples during pregnancy, childbirth, and the transition to parenthood

Couples therapy

Guiding partners through communication struggles, trust issues, and emotional disconnection

Adolescent and young adult therapy

Providing a safe space for teens and older youth to navigate identity, relationships, and stress

Individual therapy

offering support for anxiety, depression, grief, and self-discovery

No matter the presenting concern, my focus remains on creating a therapeutic environment that is safe, nonjudgmental, and empowering.

My Approach

Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. I combine multiple evidence-based techniques to meet the unique needs of each client. Some of the tools I draw from include:

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)

For trauma processing and PTSD symptom relief

Emotionally Focused Therapy

For couples seeking stronger emotional bonds

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

For shifting unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior

Eclectic Therapy

For individualized care that draws from multiple treatment modalities

A Personal Note

Outside of my credentials, what matters most is the relationship I build with my clients. Therapy is a collaborative process— your story, needs, and strengths guide the work we do together.

My role is to offer support, tools, and perspective as you move toward the life that you want for yourself. Whether you are navigating the challenges of early parenthood, seeking to heal past wounds, or working to improve your relationships, my goal is to provide a space where you feel safe, validated, and understood.
